Okay so I am modding my CS3 based on some info I found on the net, all is going well but I cant work out how to remove that damn glue ('gloop') that you see on boards. In this case it is holding together three caps and one of them needs switching out. Any ideas? Searched the internet but to no avail.

I'm not sure what kind of adhesive you have there. Can you post a pic?

I would guess the easiest way to deal with it is to slice through the glue with an Xacto knife on either side of the cap you want to remove.

This is what I ended up doing. Its a real pain but I was careful and it worked.
